The Benefits Of Budgeting

AJ | January 7, 2008 | 1:16 pm

One of my goals for this year was to start a budget and still to it. I just wanted to share some of the reasons why budgeting just make good fiscal sense.

Knowledge of your Finances
When you set up your budget and develop a spending plan; this will help to determine where you money is going. Once you know where your money will be distributed on a monthly basis you know when and where to distribute your funds. Having the ability to know what’s going on with your finances is always empowering.

Take Advantage of Opportunities
Once you know where your money is going you will know that how much money to allocate to food and entertainment. These are two areas that most people tend to lose control of the amount that is spent. Buying a cappuccino everyday of the week does and up. That money could be put towards a bill or increasing your savings account. Your spending habits will probably change once that your budget has been established.

Financial Organization
Depending on what budgeting structure that you decide to use, you will be able to determine where all your money is going in any given period. When your organized you will be able to make adjustments on the fly to stay within your budget. When you have your budget in place there is the ability to create an early warning system for potential problems. Being organized will give you the ability to eliminate debt and increase your savings.
